Literary Research
The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Guwahati actively contributes to literary research within the field of Ayurveda. This initiative is part of the broader Literary Research and Documentation Programme of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), which focuses on medico-historical studies, critical editions of classical texts, and the preservation of ancient manuscripts.
CARI’s literary research efforts include the digitization, editing, and interpretation of rare Ayurvedic manuscripts, such as the Dravyaratnakara Nighantu and Dravyanamakara Nighantu. These critical editions serve as valuable resources for contemporary Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, and educators, enriching India’s traditional healthcare system with validated ancient insights.
Furthermore, CARI is involved in collaborative projects with institutions like the College of Veterinary Science (CVSc), Guwahati, Assam, to promote joint research and projects. These collaborations aim to enhance the quality and scope of Ayurvedic research and education.
