Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Guwahati

Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Guwahati was started functioning from 21st of May, 1971 in the name of “Survey of Medicinal Plants Unit” in the premises of Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Jalukbari, Guwahati, Assam and was subsequently upgraded to “Regional Research Centre of Ayurveda” in May, 1979. The Institute got its own building in February, 2002 at Borsojai, Beltola, Guwahati, Assam and was rechristened as “Central Institute of Tribal Medicine” in 2008. The Institute was re-named as “North Eastern India Ayurveda Research Institute (NEIARI)” in December, 2009 which was again re-named as “Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Gastro Intestinal Disorders (RARIGID)” in May, 2016. The Institute was upgraded to Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in December, 2020 and continues its services to humankind.

Dr. P.L. Bharati is the Research Officer (Ayurveda) and In-Charge at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Guwahati, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. He has been instrumental in leading various research and outreach initiatives at CARI Guwahati.
Dr. Bharati has actively participated in community engagement activities, including awareness programs on nutrition, health, and wellness. For instance, he has been involved in initiatives like Poshan Maah 2022, where he emphasized the importance of proper nutrition, and the International Year of Millets, promoting the health benefits of millets

CCRAS

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body of the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), Government of India. It is an apex body in India for the formulation, coordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda and Sowa-Rigpa system of medicine.
